Ilmu alam (bahasa Inggris: natural science; atau ilmu pengetahuan alam) adalah istilah yang digunakan yang merujuk pada rumpun ilmu dimana obyeknya adalah benda-benda alam dengan hukum-hukum yang pasti dan umum, berlaku kapan pun dimana pun.^[1]
Sains (science) diambil dari kata latin scientia yang arti harfiahnya adalah pengetahuan. Sund dan Trowbribge merumuskan bahwa Sains merupakan kumpulan pengetahuan dan proses. Sedangkan Kuslan Stone menyebutkan bahwa Sains adalah kumpulan pengetahuan dan cara-cara untuk mendapatkan dan mempergunakan pengetahuan itu. Sains merupakan produk dan proses yang tidak dapat dipisahkan. "Real Science is both product and process, inseparably Joint" (Agus. S. 2003: 11)
Sains sebagai proses merupakan langkah-langkah yang ditempuh para ilmuwan untuk melakukan penyelidikan dalam rangka mencari penjelasan tentang gejala-gejala alam. Langkah tersebut adalah merumuskan masalah, merumuskan hipotesis, merancang eksperimen, mengumpulkan data, menganalisis dan akhimya menyimpulkan. Dari sini tampak bahwa karakteristik yang mendasar dari Sains ialah kuantifikasi artinya gejala alam dapat berbentuk kuantitas.
Ilmu alam mempelajari aspek-aspek fisik & nonmanusia tentang Bumi dan alam sekitarnya. Ilmu-ilmu alam membentuk landasan bagi ilmu terapan, yang keduanya dibedakan dari ilmu sosial, humaniora, teologi, dan seni.
Matematika tidak dianggap sebagai ilmu alam, akan tetapi digunakan sebagai penyedia alat/perangkat dan kerangka kerja yang digunakan dalam ilmu-ilmu alam. Istilah ilmu alam juga digunakan untuk mengenali "ilmu" sebagai disiplin yang mengikuti metode ilmiah, berbeda dengan filsafat alam. Di sekolah, ilmu alam dipelajari secara umum di mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam(biasa disingkat IPA).
Tingkat kepastian ilmu alam relatif tinggi mengingat obyeknya yang kongkrit, karena hal ini ilmu alam lazim juga disebut ilmu pasti^[2].
Di samping penggunaan secara tradisional di atas, saat ini istilah "ilmu alam" kadang digunakan mendekati arti yang lebih cocok dalam pengertian sehari-hari. Dari sudut ini, "ilmu alam" dapat menjadi arti alternatif bagi biologi, terlibat dalam proses-proses biologis, dan dibedakan dari ilmu fisik (terkait dengan hukum-hukum fisika dan kimia yang mendasari alam semesta).

Hallo guys, my name is Vina Apriliani Aswari. Umur gue saat ini masih 14 tahun haha yaa bisa dibilang masih bocah sihyaa -_- eits tapi jgn salah, meskipun bocah tapi fikirannya dewasa jow (ohiya? masasih?) hmm abaikan lah. Okedeh, kali ini gue mau cerita tentang gimana kehidupan gue di sekolah yaa (ga semuanya tapi, sedikit aja yaa ;) ). Saat ini, gue tinggal di Bandung, dan gue sekolah di SMPN 44 Bandung tercinta yang bertepatan di Jalan. Cimanuk No 1 Bandung. Disini asik banget looh, kita diajarin buat lebih mendekatkan diri kepada Allah S.W.T. Bisa dibilang, disini tuh agamanya top bgt deh :-bd mulai dari Shalat berjamaah, Dzikir, Shalawatan, Baca Asmaul-Husna, dan 4 surat 4 ayat hehe. Kerasa bgt perubahan gue waktu masuk ke smp ini. Yang awalnya gue manja, gue ga dewasa sama sekali dan segala macem tapi sekarang insyaAllah itu semua udah engga dan malahan gue gamau gitu lagi. Kalo gue masih bersifat kekanak-kanakan kaya dulu, gatau deh gimana jadinya skrg -_- dan itu semua berkat temen2 yang nyadarin gue, sekarang gue jadi lebih bisa mandiri dan bersikap dewasa (alhamduilillah yah sesuatu banget). Okay.. Sekarang gue mau ngenalin sahabat2 gue disekolah yaaa ;). Yang pertama, ada Sheila Geeva Tumiwa. Dia ini orangnya super duper kocak banget. Kayanya tuh adaa aja bahan buat bikin orang ketawa sama kelakuannya yang frontal abis, blak2an dan segala macem haha dia tuh bisa disebut kembaran gue, karna dimanapun gue pergi pasti ada dia. Kita banyak banget kesamaannya, sering bgt malah. Kalo kita marahan, paling cuma bentar dan itupun kita balik lagi kaya biasa (itulah hebatnya kita B-)) haha dikelas dia termasuk siswa yang pinter dan aktif apalagi pelajaran bahasa inggris. Dari sheila, kita beralih ke Yasmin Anggraeni... Nah, cewe yang satu ini hampir mirip sama Sheila, dia tomboy bgt looh. Dia juga punya sifat dan karakteristik yang berbeda dari setiap manusia haha. Dia juga kocak :)) yang paling diinget dari dia tuh waktu gue lagi nangis di kelas, dia nyamperin dan meluk gue AAAAA disitu gue udah gabisa ngapa2in dan malah bikin gue nangis tambah hysteris haha. Pokonya mereka berdua tuh sahabat gue yang top :)) maaf yah gue cuma ceritain dikit :(. Sebenernya masih panjang bgt cerita tentang mereka tuh (sepanjang apa sih vin?) pokonya gue sayang semua sahabat gue!!!! Meskipun yang dibicarain disini cuma Sheila & Yasmin, tapi vina sayaang ke kalian semua gada bedanya koo :) makasih buat selama ini yaa teman2 sudah menjadi yang terbaik ;) Vina seneng bgt :) Vina sayang kalian semuaaa!!!
